A note on the stone:
Oregon is the only place in the world where sunstone is mined commercially with copper inclusions inside the crystal — every other sunstone deposit on earth contains hematite or goethite instead. That copper is what gives Oregon sunstone its specific warm glow, and sometimes a metallic shimmer (called "schiller") that catches light unlike any other gem. It's the official state gemstone of Oregon, mined by small-scale operations in the high desert near Plush, Lake County.
The portrait cut is a modern step cut — long, thin, architectural — and suits a small stone particularly well. The elongated shape creates more visual presence than a round cut would at the same carat weight.
