A note on the stone:
Ruby Vale, in central Queensland, has been mining sapphires since the late 1800s — the town was literally named for the gemstones found beneath it. Unheated sapphires are uncommon in modern jewellery; most are heat-treated to deepen colour and clear inclusions. This one hasn't been. The natural inclusions you can see are part of what makes it untreated — proof the stone has come to you exactly as it was mined. The portrait cut is a modern step cut — long, thin, and architectural — letting the stone show its quiet depth without trying to make it sparkle.
