Leda Red Garnet & Diamond Ring

Leda Red Garnet & Diamond Ring
A one-of-a-kind ring in recycled 9k yellow gold — hand-carved in wax and cast using the lost-wax method, with a substantial marquise-cut red garnet at the centre and four small diamonds surrounding it.
The marquise cut — an elongated, pointed oval — was designed in 18th-century France by King Louis XV's jeweller, who wanted a shape that mimicked the smile of his mistress. Centuries later, it's still one of the most distinctive ways to cut a stone. The red garnet in Leda was chosen for its depth, sitting low between the diamonds like a flame held still.
Made once. Ready to ship. Never repeated.

A note on the stones:
Garnets have been worn since ancient Egypt — named for the Latin word for pomegranate, after the colour of the seeds. Red garnet is the traditional January birthstone, and one of the oldest stones still worn in modern jewellery.
